Dad’s Photography – Happy Father’s Day

Whenever anyone asks me how I got into photography I always shrug and say “my Dad was always into photography”. It’s not really a proper answer but it is true, I can’t remember ever deciding I wanted to be a photographer but I do remember going on long walks with my Dad with our cameras, waking up early on our family camping holidays to take photos of the sunrise and watching Dad painstakingly set up a tripod and fiddle with the different camera settings until everything was just right. He also used to drive me to and from weekly photography workshops at the Lowry when I was 14 and ensured I upgraded each Christmas from a disposable camera to a sticker camera to a point a shoot and finally my first DSLR.  So yeah, I guess that’s how I got into photography.

A couple of months ago I borrowed a memory card off my dad to take a few snaps of some furniture. When I came upload the images off the card I realized it was half full of Dads photos from holidays gone by. As my images were transferring I wondered how long Dad’s poor photos had been sat on his memory card; unprinted and unappreciated. It made me feel kind of sad. So I’ve decided to post a few below. Some I recognize from family holidays to Cornwall and Wales and one from a walk we did in The Lakes..others I’m not too sure of the location, perhaps you will recognize some for yourself.

Hopefully Dad wont mind this post and can see it as a gesture of love and appreciation because I really do love and appreciate these photos…and my Dad.

Happy Fathers Day!
