Chelsea and Ben – Sneak Peeks

Chelsea and Ben celebrated their beautiful wedding at The Last Drop Village & Hotel in Bolton. I was lucky enough to be there for the full day from the very calm bridal prep in the morning to the booty shaking on the dance floor in the evening. It was an amazing day and Chelsea and Ben looked so happy surrounded by their lovely family and friends as they became Mr and Mrs Brown.

While the newlyweds are off enjoying their honeymoon in the Maldives (i’m not jealous at all!) I thought I would post a few sneak peeks of their big day…

If you like what you see in this blog post and are looking for a Northwest wedding photographer please do get in touch. If you are getting married in the Lancashire area or at the Last Drop Village and Hotel I would love to hear from you!

Stephanie and James – Sneak Peaks

Stephanie and James had a super elegant James Bond inspired wedding at The Mecure Haydock Hotel in Saint Helens. It was definitely one of the most glamorous weddings I’ve had the pleasure of shooting from the black ties and diamante details to the movie star make-up and Stephanie’s TWO gorgeous wedding dresses! Below are a few sneak peaks from their day…

Laura & Gareth – Rivington Maternity Shoot

I first met Laura last year while photographing her best friends wedding in Bolton. When she contacted me a couple of months later to do a maternity shoot I couldn’t be more thrilled!

We headed slightly out of Bolton for Laura and Gareth’s bump shoot to Rivington, a lovely little village and civil parish, just next to Chorley in Lancashire.  It was a pretty miserable day (weather-wise) and both Laura and Gareth did an ace job of pretending they weren’t absolutely freezing for the whole hour we were shooting!

Below are a few of my favourite shots from the shoot. Laura looked absolutely radiant and Gareth is going to be one very doting Dad!

Charnock Farm Wedding Photography – Jessie and Ethan

Jessie and Ethan had a gorgeous summer wedding at  Charnock Farm in Leyland. When I found out Jessie was a fellow photographer I was a mixture of honored, excited and nervous to shoot her big day!

I joined the girls on the wedding morning for some very fun, relaxed bridal preparations. You know it’s going to be a good day when McDonalds breakfast gets delivered for the whole wedding party! The boys were busy getting ready elsewhere and by the time I met up with them at the venue everyone was raring to go.

Nerves were high before the wedding but Jessie had nothing to worry about… She looked absolutely stunning in her beaded fishtail gown, the ceremony room at Charnock Farm was dressed so beautifully and her family, friends and fiancee couldn’t wait to see her. The ceremony was lovely too. You could see Jessie’s nerves slipping away with each second she was with Ethan and by the time they left to enjoy the sunshine as Mr and Mrs Hunt there were huge smiles all round.

Jessie and Ethan had thought of so many details to make their day special, not only for themselves, but also for everyone sharing their day with them. The whole wedding was such a pleasure to shoot, here are some of my favorite shots from the day….

My 2016 Best Instagram Photos #2016best9

I really enjoyed reviewing by best 9 Instagram photos of 2015, I almost forgot to do it again this time round! I don’t think I posted to Instagram as much in 2016 as I have in previous years (I was going for quality over quantity 😉 ) but there is a good selection of some of my favourite memories of the year. You can view my 9 most ‘liked’ below…

#2016best9

1. Bathtimes became much more luxurious in 2016 with the help of my new bathplank (a lovely Christmas gift from my little sis). I now have a designated holders for my candles, wine and Ipad which enables me to watch copious episodes of Gilmore Girls from the comfort of my bath, bliss.

2. I got a new tattoo at the start of October, my sixth tattoo and possibly my favourite so far. It’s a sprig of heather plant like my sisters name. I know, cute 🙂 Tattoo by Lydia Hazelton (@lydiatattoos on Instagram)

3. The third image are Rachel’s wedding converse. A great choice of wedding shoe if you ask me! Especially as Rachel and Jake had a November wedding… a very frosty, slippery, November wedding.

4. The sun setting in Blackpool. I had just finished shooting a wedding at Pavillion on the Prom and snapped this quick landscape before the drive home.

5. A lovely shot of Gemma and Kris from the above wedding. Such a lovely, kind couple.

6. A shot of Charlotte and Paul from their engagement shoot at Haigh Hall Woodland Park. Wigan Council actually also posted this photo on their Instagram which was quite cool. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding at Heskin Hall this year!

7. My final wedding of 2016 was Anna and Rachael’s and this was a shot of them in-front of their fabulous illuminated ‘Mrs & Mrs’ sign.

8. I spent my 27th birthday weekend on a camping trip in Wales. On my actual birthday I woke up in a hostel because our tents had been damaged the night before. It was all quite disastrous really and the weather was horrendous but that’s what made me love it. We stopped at Bodelwydden Castle (pictured) for afternoon tea. The scones had literally just come out of the oven, they must have known it was my birthday!

9. The view from the top of the St Pauls Church in Munich, the oldest parish church in the city. Graeme and I were only in Munich for one day before we flew to Croatia for his 30th birthday but we did manage to cram a good amount of touristy activities in while we were there, including climbing the 299 steps of the church tower for this lovely view.

Sarah and Steven Wedding – Mesnes Park Wigan

Sarah and Steven had a lovely, relaxed wedding at The Lodge in Mesnes Park, Wigan.  I absolutely adored their summery, yellow theme and Sarah looked gorgeous in her beautiful, scalloped v-neck dress. I was only with the couple for a few hours on the day but my favourite part was definitely  when the Vespas came out to play! Seeing the excitement on Steven’s face as we were able to get some photos with them. After the ceremony their guests strolled over to the lovely Italian restaurant Franco’s where they had a relaxed and happy afternoon reception with food, champagne and cake.  Such a great day in the Autumn sunshine and a very cool wedding!

Dad’s Photography – Happy Father’s Day

Whenever anyone asks me how I got into photography I always shrug and say “my Dad was always into photography”. It’s not really a proper answer but it is true, I can’t remember ever deciding I wanted to be a photographer but I do remember going on long walks with my Dad with our cameras, waking up early on our family camping holidays to take photos of the sunrise and watching Dad painstakingly set up a tripod and fiddle with the different camera settings until everything was just right. He also used to drive me to and from weekly photography workshops at the Lowry when I was 14 and ensured I upgraded each Christmas from a disposable camera to a sticker camera to a point a shoot and finally my first DSLR.  So yeah, I guess that’s how I got into photography.

A couple of months ago I borrowed a memory card off my dad to take a few snaps of some furniture. When I came upload the images off the card I realized it was half full of Dads photos from holidays gone by. As my images were transferring I wondered how long Dad’s poor photos had been sat on his memory card; unprinted and unappreciated. It made me feel kind of sad. So I’ve decided to post a few below. Some I recognize from family holidays to Cornwall and Wales and one from a walk we did in The Lakes..others I’m not too sure of the location, perhaps you will recognize some for yourself.

Hopefully Dad wont mind this post and can see it as a gesture of love and appreciation because I really do love and appreciate these photos…and my Dad.

Happy Fathers Day!

Adventures in Brighton (Video)

Last weekend Graeme and I had a little weekend away in Brighton. A camping trip! and it was lovely. We actually camped in Lewes at Housedean Farm Campsite, a nice little spot directly on the South Downs Way. Usually after we’ve been away I like to write a little blog post and upload a few photos of what we got up to, but this time I’ve done things a bit differently! I recently purchased an action camera (the SJCAM SJ4000 ). I bought it for our looming trip to Croatia in July where I anticipate on spending lots of time in and around the Adriatic Sea, walking, meandering through waterfalls and such like. I’m planning to film our 10 day trip but thought I’d better get some practice in first! So this weekend away was a prefect chance to test my new camera 😀

I must say the SJCAM will be perfect for travelling…I just  popped it in my jacket pocket most of the time. I’m used to lugging my huge SLR around with me so I felt very light and free! The video, as you will see is not the greatest but it allowed me to test all the accessories and bits and bobs the camera came with and work out what I can improve on for Croatia (stabilization for sure!).

So have a peek of us battling against the wind to get our tent up, exploring the vintage shops on North Laine and enjoying fish and chips on the beach. We had a lovely little sightseeing coach tour and a delicious brunch at Bills, all of which I would do again. It’s definitely too much to see in one weekend. Brighton, we will be back!

Hannah & Paul – Bolton School Wedding

Hannah and Paul had a lovely traditional wedding at Christ Church in Ainsworth, Bolton. Hannah Stunned everybody as she entered the church in the most beautiful wedding dress and it was a pleasure to caputure the look on Pauls face as she made her way down the aisle surrounded by so many family and friends. The ceremony was filled with both laughter and emotion brought in part by chief bridesmaid’s lovely reading to her little sister, which can be read here.

The reception was held at Bolton School, one of the oldest schools in Lancashire, and was a perfect choice of venue for Harry Potter fan Hannah. With its castle-like exterior, old stone corridors and staircases we could have believed we were at Hogwarts as we shot some beautiful photos around the school.

An absolutely gorgeous day filled with laughter and lots of dancing! Here are some of my favorites from the day…
